Ricky founded Lengoafrika to use his experience and connections to bring economic growth to African communities. Ricky is passionate about bridging social barriers and developing appreciation for his home continent. He is committed to a faith in humanity, that goodness is imminent, and that bitterness wastes tomorrow’s opportunities.
Ricky is a first generation Congolese American, relocating to Tennessee as a refugee in 2013. Since moving to the states, he’s have been able to expand his networks across different sectors and fields, catalyzing the inception of Lengoafrika.
Ricky has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from The National University of Rwanda. While in Rwanda, he served in financial management for the European Union Delegation to Rwanda, managing assets over a five-year period. During this time, the EU Delegation Rwanda was ranked among the top delegations worldwide for the tracking and quality of updated assets in the EU system. He was then selected by the Brussels Head Office to assist in training the Democratic Republic of Congo administration staff on topics of management and inventory of assets.
Ricky has been the senior accountant in Corporate Finance and has also worked in personal account services at H&R block, as Finance Specialist for World Relief Nashville, and for the Accountant Business Unit at LSC Communications in Nashville, Tennessee.
Ricky is an active member of Phoenix Club of Nashville, an organization with the dual mission of benefiting under-served youth in Middle Tennessee and developing members into leaders in their community and business. He enjoys volunteering with the Dismas-House, Habitat for Humanity, KIPP Nashville, and as a member of the Immigrants Advisory Committee. He also volunteers annually during the winter months with St. Bartholomew’s homeless ministry, enjoys his Monday night dance class, and can often be found working at a Nashville staple - Black Abbey Brewery.
In 2021, Ricky launched 3 businesses simultaneously in fulfillment of his dream to bridge American and Central African industry. Through these ventures, his teams will leverage the network, ingenuity, and capacities prevalent between both Africa and the United States. The team’s realized goals will yield professional development in immigrant families, profitability from “3rd wave coffee,” and create fair-waged International Trade. His prayers will be realized through the improved lives of families and communities in Africa.
