Gilbert Makelele is a community leader, entrepreneur and founder of the Cooperative Society of Innovative Coffee Producers in Kivu (SCPNCK). He is integrated in creating peace, economic stability, sustainable development, and fair wages around African exports of coffee and cacao. His deep passion for helping others helped him be awarded with The Peace Ambassador Diploma by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF). He is also integrated in programs that help create conservation methods in Africa for cacao in protected areas and national parks.
Currently, Gilbert is the President on the Board of Directors of the Network of Cooperative of Coffee & Cacao Producers of the DRC. He speaks Swahili, English, Lingala, French, and German. His educational background is in management, geological engineering and community development. He currently resides on Idjwi Island in East Congo. He is happily married and a father of 6 children.
