Alain has a passion for sustainable development through entrepreneurship and economic growth and currently lives in Kigali, Rwanda. Alain is a consultant that has built his expertise in business development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for the last twelve years. He has extensive experience in business development coaching + advisory, agribusiness, agriculture, product trade, corporate management, and project management.
Alain holds a bachelor degree in Agri-Business and Agriculture-Economics from the National University of Rwanda. He is a candidate for a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the UNICAF online program. He is fluent in five languages, including English, French, Swahili, Kinyarwanda and Lingala.
Currently, Alain is providing consultancy services in business development coaching + advisory. He is also the project manager to 50 SMEs, including the sectors of Rwandan agribusiness and the Business Professionals Network (BPN), a Swiss business development service provider company.
In the past, Alain worked as consultant and a SME development expert with the International Trade Centre (ITC), a UN agency. Here he successfully supported 250 SMEs in Rwanda for e-commerce readiness through capacity building.
Apart from consultancy, Alain has experience in agribusiness corporate management as well. He served as the Managing Director of Rwanda Grains and Cereals Corporation (RGCC Ltd), a government business corporate institution that has the mission to purchase large volume grain and cereal products from local farmers for handling and trade in commodity exchange platforms.
In addition, Alain represented the East Africa Grains Council (EAGC), as Country Manager in Rwanda, where he successfully developed partnerships with the Government of Rwanda and international organizations to improve quality standards development and access to market for grain and cereal products.
As a project coordinator, Alain worked with Action Aids and Clinton Health Access Initiative in Rwanda where he managed projects in Agribusiness development for local farmers cooperatives. Through those projects, Alain supported more than 3,000 individual farmers grouped in 30 cooperatives to create income generation in agribusiness.
